PHYLLIS KOEHNLINE first came to Chapel Hill as a student
at UNC where she met her husband, Bill. After
raising two daughters and a son, and after years of involvement in the life of
communities and churches where the family lived and worshipped, Phyllis enrolled
in McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.
After graduating, she was ordained and called to be pastor of the
Evanshire Presbyterian Church in Skokie, Illinois, where she faithfully served
for almost twenty years before returning to Chapel Hill. Here she served briefly as interim associate
pastor during the summers of 1998 and 1999, and these and other services led to
the Session's naming her Parish Associate in 2003.
