How good it is to sing praises unto our God.

                   - Psalm 147

The University Church Chancel (Adult) Choir sings under the direction of Thomas Brown, Minister of Music, and leads worship from September through May primarily at the 11a.m. Service and occasionally at the 8:30 a.m. Service.  The Choir strives to offer its best to God in the work of worship.

The Chancel Choir rehearses regularly on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 until 9:15, and again on Sunday mornings from 9:45 until 10:30.  The Choir’s repertoire, usually sung in the original language, ranges from Renaissance polyphony to modern masterworks.  Special choral offerings each year include the Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols, sung on the Third Sunday of Advent, and a large choral work, often accompanied by instruments, offered on a Sunday morning in Lent.  Participation in the Chancel Choir offers unique opportunities for musical, intellectual and spiritual growth, an occasion for service and offering to God, and the chance for fun and fellowship.

New members are always welcome to the Choir.  Specific requirements for membership include the ability to match musical pitches, the commitment to attend faithfully all regular rehearsals and Services, and a willingness and openness to learning and growth.  Although a background in choral singing and the ability to read musical notation are very helpful, they are not required for membership.  Anyone interested in knowing more about or joining the Chancel Choir should feel free to contact Thomas Brown.
