AIDS Care Team
University Presbyterian Church has had an active AIDS care team since 1995. The team consists of 7-16 members of diverse ages and talents (including University students) and has functioned continuously serving eight care partners. We work with the Alliance of AIDS Services*Carolina (AASC or the "Alliance"), which oversees the assignment of care partners and offers orientation, training, workshops and meetings that sustain us. The AASC mission is:
To provide compassionate, non-judgmental care, prevention, education and advocacy for people living with HIV/AIDS, their loved ones, caregivers, and communities at large.
We provide social activities, transportation, gardening, home maintenance, respite, etc to our care partners. Meetings for the care team are on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Garden Room. Newcomers are welcome to join us. It doesn't take a lot of time and no special skill is needed. Through the Alliance, we can provide training and continuing education.
If you have any questions or would like to join us, please contact the Care Team Coordinator, .
